A different Christmas party

Indeed it is that time of the year where invitations for parties and get-togethers abound. These are, of course, apart from the family reunions that will be organised. I bet you that there will lots of events in Facebook that will be created to celebrate this season of jolly among friends and workmates. For the past years, my big event is the company Christmas do along with a dinner party perhaps with the team I work with.

Company parties almost always will have disco dancing. To me, this is why I attend. Truth is, I could stay on that dance floor from the first track down to the last. Even when I don’t really like the song that is playing, my feet and/or head will always be bobbing and tapping. Sometimes, I get whiff of shame so I walk away briefly to where the glitterball lights can’t reach. Of course, I cover this momentary embarassment up with and I-need-a-drink excuse.

This year, however, I will be going to 2 other parties on top of our company do. One party is for my jive/lindy hop/swing class and the other for my tango group. I am quite excited about them and I really can’t explain why. I only know that I will get to dance all night (well, almost all night) and practice everything that I have learned so far from each dance. Of course, I will be more confident with the tango as I have been learning that for almost 2 years now. The swing party will also have a live band providing the music so that is also something that I am looking forward to.

I am thinking of putting a little effort in dressing up for a richer experience. I just hope that the other partygoers/dancers will also do the same. Ooh, I can’t wait!

C’mon December!
